I am trying to install 2004.0. Both the Universal ISO Full and Minmal fail with a kernel panic after identifying the drives. The cd boots to the kernel selection/options screen, but I get a kernel panic right after no matter what options are selected. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Insert Universal LiveCD Minmal or Full 2.Boot CD 3.Select any options and continue booting Actual Results: Kernel booting.... hda: Maxtor 6ED30L0, ATA Disk drive blk:queue col79980, I/O Limit 4095MB hdc: ST3160023A, ATA Disk drive hdd: _NEC DVD_RW ND-2500A, ATAPI CD/DVD Rom Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000010 prinitng eip: .....skipping.... <0> kernel panic: attempted to kill init3 Expected Results: Successful boot. The old 1.4 LiveCD boots fine. In fact, I had this system running based for months off of a Gentoo 1.4 install. I am reintalling because I am upgrading one of the two Maxtor 30GB drives with a 160GB Seagate drive. My hardware: Gigabyte GA-7VAX with via kt400 chipset and Promise IDE Raid (which I am not using), built-in NIC, AC97. 1GB Ram Crucial 3200 DDR Maxtor 30 GB HD 133ATA Seagate 160 GB HD 100ATA NEC DVD-RW Nvidia Geforce 4600Ti 1.44 Floppy
Have you tried the 2004.1-cd? Is this still an issue?
was your CD a good burn?
He hasn't responded, so I'm going to mark this as RESOLVED. The requester can REOPEN this if he needs and we'll re-investigate at that time.
