There's a new version of DirectVNC around. It mainly fixes the build issues with autoconf 2.53 (see bug 43983) and makes all those fixes/patches obsolete. Maybe there was some other stuff fixed, too. I also added the directfb flag to IUSE. As DirectVNC depends on DirectFB, the ebuild should probably bail out if the flag is disabled. But I don't know how to do this (right). It seems like there's a small bug in DirectVNC 0.7.5 -- it segfaults if the server closes the connection unexpectedly. I sent a mail to the author.
Update: Seems like I just became the new maintainer of DirectVNC ;-) I'll fix a few bugs and release a version which won't segfault in a few days.
Tossing back to the pool, since I'm assuming that we have a better framebuffer guru than me. Mr. Stretz, are you still working on directvnc?
Yes, I'm still working on it but the pace is slow as I don't have too much spare time so the "few days" got a few more. There will be an 0.8.0 one day but I don't know when its finished. Please commit the 0.7.5 ebuild for now, with it DirectVNC at least builds. You might want to remove the directvnc USE flag though as I just recently learned that its not correct using it in such a way ;-)
