Description Slobodan D. Sredojevic 2004-04-03 08:44:39 UTC
Hi,

Installed gnome-2.6 on a clean system removing bits from packages.mask

So far noticed that rhythmbox and totem don't work giving the same error - it brings a dialog box with message:

Totem could not startup.
The gnomevfssrc plug-in could not be found. This plug-in is essential for libgstplay. Please install it and verify that it works by running 'gst-inspect gnomevfssrc'.

And error from rhythmbox is:

Failed to create gnomevfssrc input element; check your installation

During installation I have noticed that it was "mixing" gst 0.6 and 0.8 plugins.

I will give any further info on this.

USE flags are: +gstreamer +gnome
CFLAGS are -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -march=pentium4

PS. Seems that this is somehow related to #22794 : /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.6/libgstgnomevfssrc doesn't exist on my system and 0.8 also.

rhythmbox & totem both depend correctly on this plugin, so i dunno what you messed up really. If you removed bits from p.mask as you see, the deps were probably not correct at the time (yeah, it's p.mask -> broken).

Remerge the packages and you should be fine.
