Plays quietly on right channel (almost sounds like it's underwater). Almost no sound out of left. Need to mute right channel to barely hear the left channel. Last working kernel version?
3.7.10-r1 of the Gentoo sources.
Sound is fully functional under the 3.9 gentoo sources.
Sounds good, I'll look into the commit log and see whether we can backport this.
Found this: commit 6d3073e124e1a6138b929479301d3a7ecde00f27 Author: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Date: Fri Mar 15 14:23:32 2013 +0100 ALSA: hda - Fix missing EAPD/GPIO setup for Cirrus codecs During the transition to the generic parser, the hook to the codec specific automute function was forgotten. This resulted in the silent output on some MacBooks. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> We can't be sure that this is what you describe though, since you are talking about the right channel only. Could you try to undo the changes in 3.9 or apply the changes to a 3.8 kernel? Commit: http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git/commit/?id=6d3073e124e1a6138b929479301d3a7ecde00f27 Patch: http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git/patch/?id=6d3073e124e1a6138b929479301d3a7ecde00f27
I just get a compiling error after trying to patch it. sound/pci/hda/patch_cirrus.c: In function 'patch_cs420x': sound/pci/hda/patch_cirrus.c:1450:11: error: 'struct hda_gen_spec' has no member named 'automute_hook' sound/pci/hda/patch_cirrus.c: In function 'patch_cs4210': sound/pci/hda/patch_cirrus.c:1990:11: error: 'struct hda_gen_spec' has no member named 'automute_hook' make[3]: *** [sound/pci/hda/patch_cirrus.o] Error 1 make[2]: *** [sound/pci/hda] Error 2 make[1]: *** [sound/pci] Error 2 make: *** [sound] Error 2
They moved this to the header with http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git/commit/?id=352f7f914 and apparently that didn't make it into the 3.8 branch and is only available in the 3.9 branch; therefore, I think we can't backport this. Thanks for trying.
