Using the latest bootsplash ebuild on an ~x86. The script /sbin/splash refers to both 'which' and 'chvt' commands, which are only found in /usr/bin. Since /usr is not yet mounted during boot, bootsplash emits some warnings about not finding 'which'. Then, if you copy 'which' to /bin, it'll complain that there's no 'chvt' in the PATH (since /usr not mounted). In short, we need 'which' and 'chvt' in /bin, or maybe some other way for /sbin/splash to do its job. Sorry if this is not a good bug report, I find this bugzilla pretty intimidating :)
nope, you filled the bug report just right. spock and I had actually talked about this very issue yesterday, too (the chvt and which one)
This is fixed in -r13. Thank you both for the hints.
