amule randomly crashes when using it. It is not related to any event in particular, it just crashes. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open amule 2. Wait until it is connected to a server 3. Issue a search (if you are lucky you can get up to here) 4. Try to download files Actual Results: amule will crash anywhere between described steps 2 to 4. The whole thing closes and it is aware that it crashed since it'll throw something like this when ran from the console: OOPS! - Seems like aMule crashed --== BACKTRACE FOLLOWS: ==-- [0] amule(_ZN9CamuleApp16OnFatalExceptionEv+0x3f) [0x590baf] [1] /usr/lib/libwx_gtk2-2.4.so(wxFatalSignalHandler+0x21) [0x2a95a6dba1] [2] /lib/libpthread.so.0 [0x2a976207ce] [3] /lib/libc.so.6 [0x2a977db3d0] [4] /lib/libc.so.6(strlen+0x30) [0x2a97823850] [5] /usr/lib/libwx_gtk2-2.4. so(_ZNK10wxWindowDC15DoGetTextExtentERK8wxStringPiS3_S3_S3_P6wxFont+0xe6) [0x2a959393f6] [6] amule(_ZN16wxODListLineData17DrawTextFormattedEP4wxDCRK8wxStringiiii+0xde) [0x4c200e] [7] amule(_ZN16wxODListLineData16DrawInReportModeEP4wxDCRK6wxRectS4_b+0xeb) [0x4c1cab] [8] amule(_ZN18wxODListMainWindow7OnPaintER12wxPaintEvent+0x56b) [0x4c6e2b] [9] /usr/lib/libwx_gtk2-2.4. so(_ZN12wxEvtHandler16SearchEventTableER12wxEventTableR7wxEvent+0xc3) [0x2a959aa803] [10] /usr/lib/libwx_gtk2-2.4.so(_ZN12wxEvtHandler12ProcessEventER7wxEvent+0x75) [0x2a959aa625] [11] /usr/lib/libwx_gtk2-2.4.so(_ZN8wxWindow18GtkSendPaintEventsEv+0x188) [0x2a95972bd8] [12] /usr/lib/libwx_gtk2-2.4.so [0x2a9596ccf3] [13] /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0(_gtk_marshal_BOOLEAN__BOXED+0xb4) [0x2a95d9c4b4] [14] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0(g_closure_invoke+0xaf) [0x2a967564df] [15] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0 [0x2a96766df8] [16] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0(g_signal_emit_valist+0x41c) [0x2a96765afc] [17] /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0(g_signal_emit+0x83) [0x2a96765fa3] [18] /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 [0x2a95e60166] [19] /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0(gtk_main_do_event+0x1bb) [0x2a95d9b34b] [20] /usr/lib/libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0 [0x2a960632e1] [21] /usr/lib/libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0(gdk_window_process_all_updates+0x4d) [0x2a9606344d] [22] /usr/lib/libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0 [0x2a960634a5] [23] /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 [0x2a96aafe6e] [24] /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 [0x2a96aad64f] [25] /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0(g_main_context_dispatch+0x7c) [0x2a96aae54c] [26] /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 [0x2a96aae814] [27] /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0(g_main_loop_run+0x145) [0x2a96aaee65] [28] /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0(gtk_main+0xb0) [0x2a95d9aca0] [29] /usr/lib/libwx_gtk2-2.4.so(_ZN5wxApp8MainLoopEv+0x9) [0x2a95920999] [30] /usr/lib/libwx_gtk2-2.4.so(_ZN9wxAppBase5OnRunEv+0x16) [0x2a95974556] [31] /usr/lib/libwx_gtk2-2.4.so(_Z7wxEntryiPPc+0x257) [0x2a95921027] [32] /lib/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xb1) [0x2a977c88b1] [33] amule(_ZN10wxNotebook12SetSelectionEi+0x72) [0x4580ea] Aborted (core dumped) Expected Results: keep working amd64 3Ghz nVidia FX 5200 1024Mb Ram linux 2.6.3-gentoo-r2 emerge info amule Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.13 Portage 2.0.50-r1 (default-amd64-2004.0, gcc-3.3.3, glibc-2.3.2-r9, 2.6. 3-gentoo-r2) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.3-gentoo-r2 x86_64 4 Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.58-r1 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.7.8 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3. 2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.netnitco.net http://www.gtlib.cc.gatech. edu/pub/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X aalib alsa amd64 apm arts avi berkdb cdr crypt cups doc dvd encode esd foomaticdb gdbm gif gnome gphoto2 gpm gtk gtk2 imlib joystick jpeg kde libg++ libwww mikmod motif mozilla mpeg ncurses nls nogcj oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png python qt quicktime readline samba sdl slang spell ssl tcpd truetype unicode utf8 xml2 xmms xv zlib"

changing severity to normal, as this isn't something that could potentially block the release of gentoo 2004.1
don't use wxgtk linked against gtk2, and you will avoid your problems...
Works for me and someone has provided a workaround.
