For the instructions to use mke2fs, perhaps a little note should be added that if the user has a questionable hard drive, they can mke2fs -c to have mke2fs check their hard drive. And if they're SUPER paranoid, they can mke2fs -c -c which does an exhaustive read/write test. Even though I marked this as x86, it's probably applicable across architectures. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
This is a good addendum for the Tips 'n Tricks document that we will write up.
Added in CVS. Thanks! http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-x86-tipsntricks.xml This should show up in less than an hour.
