gaim != gnome
Any chance you could upgrade your autoconf and automake?
FYI automake-1.8.3 was just moved into stable x86. Should show up in your normal upgrade list after rsync in a bit.
Still got this problem. And as you can see below on my system now there are autoconf and automake up to date :\ sigh. Is there any other piece of system that I have to update? I'm new to gentoo and compiling so don't know exactly what's the matter. Or is it a bug on my system? <cut> usr/bin/gaim-remote making executable: /usr/lib/libgaim-remote.so.0.0.0 >>> Completed installing into /var/tmp/portage/gaim-0.76/image/ --------------------------- ACCESS VIOLATION SUMMARY --------------------------- LOG FILE = "/tmp/sandbox-net-im_-_gaim-0.76-8550.log" chmod: /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0/i686-linux/auto/Gaim/Gaim.so unlink: /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0/i686-linux/auto/Gaim/Gaim.so -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ka gaim # emerge info Portage 2.0.50-r1 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.3, glibc-2.3.2-r1, 2.6.3-gentoo-r1) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.3-gentoo-r1 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.06GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.8p1 Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r3 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium4 -funroll-loops -fprefetch-loop-arrays -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium4 -funroll-loops -fprefetch-loop-arrays -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X aalib acpi afs alsa apm arts avi berkdb cdr crypt cups dvd dvdr encode esd foomaticdb gdbm gif gnome gpm gtk gtk2 gtkhtml guile icq imlib ipv6 java jpeg kde lesstif libg++ libwww lirc mad mikmod motif mozilla mpeg msn mysql ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png pnp ppds python qt quicktime readline samba scanner sdl slang slp spell sse ssl svga tcpd tiff truetype unicode usb vhosts videos wmf wxwindows x86 xml xml2 xmms xv zlib"
It looks like you are on perl 5.8.0, which isn't even in portage anymore. I might be grasping at straws, but could you update to at least the latest stable perl?
Or for a quicker test try USE="-perl" emerge gaim
Gettign this too. Trying to install newer version of perl, but if it's required - it should be listed as a dependency, right? :)
That is what I'm trying to identify. If upgrading perl works, then I'll change the dependency.
I had the same problem so I unmerged gaim-0.75 and then reemerged gaim-0.76 and it got past the issue with Gaim.so, but now I get: --------------------------- ACCESS VIOLATION SUMMARY --------------------------- LOG FILE = "/tmp/sandbox-net-im_-_gaim-0.76-30257.log" mkdir: /usr/man/man3pm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm gonna try updating autoconf and automake and I'll report back.
I had the same problem, previous version of perl was 5.8.0-r12. After upgrading to 5.8.3, Gaim installed correctly.
Can anyone confirm if it works with perl-5.8.2-r1? That is the stable for all arches, so being able to dep on that will help gaim-0.76 get into stable faster.
I can confirm gaim-0.76 emerges and runs fine with perl-5.8.2-r1.
I'm going to wait for Alfredo to confirm this as well. I've bumped the dep to perl-5.8.2 for now.
Yes, it works with perl 5.8.2 :-) ka root # perl -v This is perl, v5.8.2 built for i686-linux <cut> Thank you to all!
Alright then the changes committed yesterday should fix this problem.
This problem may have returned, I get it with gaim-0.77. --------------------------- ACCESS VIOLATION SUMMARY --------------------------- LOG FILE = "/tmp/sandbox-net-im_-_gaim-0.77-13489.log" chmod: /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.2/i686-linux/auto/Gaim/Gaim.so unlink: /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.2/i686-linux/auto/Gaim/Gaim.so -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # emerge info Portage 2.0.50-r6 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.2, glibc-2.3.2-r9, 2.4.22-gentoo-r8) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.22-gentoo-r8 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1800+ Gentoo Base System version 1.4.9 Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.58-r1 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -Os -pipe -fstack-protector" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/alias /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -Os -pipe -fstack-protector" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://ds.thn.htu.se/linux/gentoo http://trumpetti.atm.tut.fi/gentoo http://mirror.pudas.net/gentoo http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow X alsa apm avi berkdb cdr crypt cups encode esd foomaticdb gdbm gif gnome gpm gtk gtk2 guile imlib java jikes jpeg ldap libg++ libwww mad mikmod motif mpeg mysql ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png python quicktime readline sdl slang spell ssl svga tcltk tcpd tetex truetype x86 xml2 xmms xv zlib"
Anders please CC yourself of Bug 47651
Done, chose this one since it was the same sandbox violation, whilst Bug 47651 had a mkdir error.
