Pretty self-explanatory, really. There is no metadata.xml for dev-libs/libevent - metadata.xml is required by the Gentoo Linux Development Policy (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/policy.xml). Please note that I'm not reporting this just to be anal :-) I wanted to report a bug with libevent-0.6 but didn't know who to assign it to, since that info is usually contained in metadata.xml Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
that just means that there's no regular maintainer for it yet
Well, don't keep us in suspense, there's no need to open a new bug, just add whatever it is to this bug. p.s. That wasn't always policy, hence the hundreds of packages that don't have one
Sorry, I wasn't intentionally delaying things :-) I found out that my intended bug report would be a duplicate of #26816, so I added a comment to that instead. The problem is that the bug in question has been open since 2003-08-17 and the only activity has been from other users. See my post to gentoo-dev titled "Bugzilla Q: Upgrading severity on someone else's bug", or my earlier post to gentoo-user titled "Bugzilla Q: Upgrading severity". Thanks for your help
I bumped 0.7c to x86, I'll try to find someone more suitable to maintain this program
Thanks Brian!
I'm leaving now, I don't plan on maintaining this, but I'm sure someone will pick it up eventually
