Description Voicu Liviu 2002-07-07 15:19:42 UTC
Hi,
It's about prozilla bug.

I don't remmeber well but i think this started after "emerge rsync ; emerge -u

i just merged prozilla and did `proz http://cygwin.com/setup.exe` and didnt
have a problem

does proz hang if you tell it to grab 'http://cygwin.com/setup.exe' ?
if so, try running strace on it to see if it yields any useful info

pacman, this still an issue?
Comment 3 Voicu Liviu 2002-07-13 04:58:55 UTC
this is still issue....doesn't work at all for me...
Comment 4 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2002-07-13 09:11:41 UTC
can you please provide us with more information to help debug your problem ?
or maybe access to your machine (i doubt you'll like that idea, but figured i'd
offer) ?
Comment 5 Voicu Liviu 2002-07-13 10:00:22 UTC
Sorry, my ISP blocks my IP , even me from my office can't login to my box.
Comment 6 Voicu Liviu 2002-07-13 10:10:05 UTC
Maybe this is my mistake, do I need to provide proxy and port to access the out
addresses? If yes, where should I enter the proxy?
Any way, strange....it worked without proxy before...
Comment 7 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2002-07-13 10:15:06 UTC
your ISP blocks your IP ?
thats kind of odd
Comment 8 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2002-07-13 10:15:29 UTC

Comment 9 Voicu Liviu 2002-07-13 10:54:00 UTC
Yes, my IP is blocked for incoming access...
Ok, what about my prozilla? Should I add proxy config?
Comment 10 Ben Lutgens (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-07-21 13:20:42 UTC
this works fine for me too, perhaps you should discuss your problem in the
forums as it doesn't look like a bug.
Comment 11 Voicu Liviu 2002-07-21 13:51:22 UTC
Then any 1 could say how the hell can I use it? :-) I can use prozilla only on my country on sites that doesn't request proxy. If I'll try to use it outside I'm stuck :-(
Comment 12 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2002-07-21 13:56:24 UTC
so it is an isp issue ?
if so, this should goto gentoo forums and not bugs ;)

You should think more before posting.
My ISP blocks me for incoming access.
FROM me to outside the way is free :-)
I think just I need to specify somehow the God damn proxy...
Comment 14 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2002-07-21 14:09:22 UTC
so i missed the fact i had already asked those questions ;P

but regardless, it comes down to its a matter of setup/special circumstances
for you. thus it is not really a bug (since the program works as it should),
and you should move it over to the forums

What kind of application is it if you can not use it?
Ofcourse I consider it a bug...
Comment 16 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2002-07-21 15:04:26 UTC
if i run `iptables -I INPUT 1 -j DROP` then prozilla would stop working ... but
i wouldnt post it as a bug

basically bugzilla is for programs that do not compile/install correctly. if a
setup prevents the program from working (in this case, the setup you have with
respect to networking) then its not a bug that goes into bugzilla.

it *is* a bug that can go onto the forums for workarounds
Comment 17 Voicu Liviu 2002-07-21 15:19:25 UTC
Forget about it.
Continue to do your job, you do it just *FINE*.

Comment 18 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2002-07-21 16:01:27 UTC
i'm not trying to piss you off or anything, i'm just trying to help out
bugs.gentoo.org and the people who have bugs

basically you said that prozilla works for sites inside your country.
this means prozilla works.
go outside our country and prozilla fails to work.
this means its probably a setup problem with the ISP/prozilla+proxy

if you can post a few cases of when prozilla works/doesnt work, then maybe we
can close this bug
Comment 19 Voicu Liviu 2002-07-21 16:42:22 UTC
As i said, it works inside the country, not outside.
Comment 20 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2002-07-21 16:47:50 UTC
well can a regular web browser get to the URL's you try to get with prozilla ?
i.e. can you download those files with lynx ?
`lynx <url>`
Comment 21 Voicu Liviu 2002-07-21 23:37:31 UTC
EVERY THING is working except prozilla :-)
Comment 22 Ben Lutgens (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-07-22 20:02:27 UTC
You need to work this out on the forums or mailing lists. This is NOT a
discussion board! Once you come to a concensus with some other users over what
the problem is if indeed there is a problem, post a bug. NOT BEFORE! None of the
developers can reproduce it that have tried, which makes it impossible to repair
and also makes us think it's not a bug. Hence the repeated marking of "INVALID"

I REPEAT DO NOT REOPEN THIS BUG! Do not abuse this service. It's a bug-tracker
not a discussion board.
