I've had to set music_enabled to false in .tuxracer/options because tuxracer's music is terribly distorted to the point where you don't recognize it's music at all. This happens with all twelve possible combinations of audio_freq_mode (0/1/2), audio_format_mode (0/1) and audio_stereo (true/false). As the noise sounds different with different combinations, I suspect something might be wrong not with tuxracer but with alsa's OSS emulation (tuxracer uses /dev/dsp). On the other hand, sox' play command (which also uses alsa's OSS emulation) perfectly plays audio files from the $KDEDIR/share/sounds directory. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. tuxracer Actual Results: Terrible noise made me quit tuxracer in no time. Expected Results: Please my ears and let me enjoy a game or two. This is actually a bug in SDL. Mandrake has already posted a bugfix, but didn't tell us what they did to fix it (10.0 release notes for beta 2). Look around here, someone said they posted bug fixes for Gentoo. -Poseidon
fixed by sdl-mixer patch...
