I need more information. Did you have another ghc installed prior to the attempt, or did you bootstrap from ghc-bin? Which version of ghc-bin is installed on your machine? ks
I will have limited internet access until easter, so I may not be able to do much about this during the next week. I would suggest that you try to unmerge both ghc and ghc-bin, and verify that no ghc is installed anymore under /usr/bin/ghc or anywhere else in the path, and then try to re-emerge ghc ... ks
Thanks for the fast response, Andres. I had ghc-6.2 installed. Unmerging it and remerging "seemed to worked", but I think I close this report, because my system is not stable. It just turned out, that one of my memory modules is dead (the bigger one of course). :(
