Short after beginning to extrack the stage archive on an reiserfs root partition, the system hangs and never comeback. I was able to reproduce this bug some times on my HP 712/60. with: livecd-hppa-beta_04.iso stage3-hppa-20040114.tar.bz2 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. gentoo livecd boot (going to install fdisk,...) 2. mkreiserfs /dev/sda2 3. mount /dev/sda2 /mnt/gentoo 4. cd /mnt/gentoo 5. tar xvpfj stage3-hppa-20040114.tar.bz2 6. and then it happend, after some files are extracked (sometime more files, sometime less) Actual Results: The System makes boboo, it hangs with no response every where. Expected Results: being functional ? but since my suse times I expect not very much of reiserfs :) no info... I worked with ext2 without any Problems .....
is reiserfs even supported on hppa?
The beta004 livecd is really old. Could you try with the newer livecd please ? http://ftp.snt.utwente.nl/pub/os/linux/gentoo/experimental/hppa/livecd/livecd-hppa-20040513-32-64-pdc.iso.bz2 This one contains a new kernel which fix many things and also, improve scsi support older box like yours by reducing the scsi tag queue. Btw, I think I forgot the reiserfs support on this livecd but xfs works well. I'll produce a new one soon with reiserfs support etc.
No news in about a month, and the new 2004.2 livecd has hit the mirrors. Closing as TEST-REQUEST, if you have problems you can reopen this bug. Thanks.
