vcdgear is a binary package that supports the following KEYWORDS "-* amd64 x86". I switched to a non multilib profile (amd64). And vcdgear needs the following files: !!! existing preserved libs: >>> package: sys-libs/libstdc++-v3-3.3.6-r1 * - /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.5 * - /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.5.0.7 * used by /opt/vcdgear/vcdgear (media-video/vcdgear-1.76-r2) >>> package: sys-libs/glibc-2.17 * - /lib32/libm-2.16.so * - /lib32/libm.so.6 * used by /opt/vcdgear/vcdgear (media-video/vcdgear-1.76-r2) * - /lib32/ld-2.16.so * - /lib32/ld-linux.so.2 * - /lib32/libc-2.16.so * - /lib32/libc.so.6 * used by /opt/vcdgear/vcdgear (media-video/vcdgear-1.76-r2) I removed vcdgear to get rid of the last 32 bit libraries (preserved-rebuild did not work). After reinstalling vcdgear I saw, that it is a binary package with a 32 bit stuff only. This is ok, I know, that we could not change this for a binary package. I just want to notice, that there should be an option in the ebuild, that prevents installing in an amd64 no-multilib profile. Reproducible: Always
the package is in a serious need of fixing but this precise bug should be fixed by the amd64 team by masking it on its no-multilib profile
