Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Launch firefox 2. 3. Actual Results: The Bookmarks Toolbar bookmarks are missing The toolbar is displayed but has no bookmarks in it Expected Results: The bookmarks in the Bookmark Toolbar should be displayed The bookmarks can be viewed by un-ticking and re-ticking the Bookmarks Toolbar option in the View/Toolbars menu; however they will still be missing next time Firefox is re-launched.
Please keep in mind that firefox-bin is the package provided by mozilla foundation. IMO the only action we can do is to report this problem upstream.
Agreed that it should be reported to Mozilla upstream From Gentoo's view point may be this release should not be marked as stable for the time being until this is resolved.
firefox-17.0.x is the stable branch for x86 please update and test, if you can still duplicate with a clean profile after upgrade we will get it reported upstream. Please do not forget to reopen if you can duplicate with current stable.
Resolved after re-updating and re-emerging the Gentoo system I had successfully updated the entire system and world together with firefox before reporting the bug; however obviously I picked up a transitory state library that must have caused this bug.Possibly one of libraries versions was not agreeable with firefox-bin Many thanks to those who spent time to review my bug report promptly and sorry for this transient bug report - I should have re-updated before filing.
In fact it seems that updating did not resolve the issue as it reappeared again after updating world. The solution I found is to remove localstore.rdf from ~/.mozilla/firefox/[profile directory].default
