When I emerge xmms-1.2.7-r11 I got the following after the ./configure portion
(or so it looked)....

cd . && aclocal
aclocal: /usr/share/aclocal/gimpprint.m4: 698: duplicated macro
`_AM_PATH_GIMPPRINT_CHECK_REGISTER_DEFAULTS'
make: *** [aclocal.m4] Error 1
cd . && aclocal
aclocal: /usr/share/aclocal/gimpprint.m4: 698: duplicated macro
`_AM_PATH_GIMPPRINT_CHECK_REGISTER_DEFAULTS'
make: *** [aclocal.m4] Error 1

I removed gimp-print-cups and emerges xmms-1.2.7-r11 without any problems. I
then needed to re-emerge gimp-print-cups

Actually, this is a bug in automake.  Please unmerge automake, rm
/usr/share/aclocal-1* then emerge automake
