Description Andrew Ross (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-30 16:25:37 UTC
New qmail-ldap patches are released every month (see http://www.nrg4u.com/), so what about naming the qmail-ldap ebuilds in a way which shows the version of qmail-ldap patches in use?

Something like qmail-ldap-1.03-20040301a.ebuild

Not sure how the hyphen will play with versioning etc. The Ebuild HOWTO (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-howto.xml) doesn't prohibit the use of hyphens in the version string, but it doesn't condone them either, so they may not be supported.

If the hyphen is a problem, I suppose you could replace it with a period. Alternatively, you could drop the stock qmail version number altogether - I'm pretty sure all the qmail-ldap patches are against 1.03 anyway.

Ok, just did a test and it seems that hyphens in the version string are a no go - you guys probably knew that, but at least I've learned something :-)

whoops=)

Actually I try to stay as up to date as I can but usually requires a lot of legwork to get simple patches to play nice together since qmail-ldap doesn't hold everything. I am working on a -r4 which will be the latest march one... or maybe I can follow the same suite with the months r4 would be for april and so forth...
