gtk-doc is optional dependency.

I don't see gobject-introspection too (but I may be wrong)

With gtk-doc you are probably correct. I think I added gobject-introspection recently due to users being unable to autoreconf.

Could you try running the ebuild with those packages removed and '--nodeps' to see if they are actually not required?

On my system if I remove gtk-doc and gobject-introspection systemd-198-r1 dependecy it systemd builds without problems (and 14 packages less to install :) )


I cannot verify if it works at runtime because right now I'm just thinking about switching to systemd.

Of course I don't have gtk-doc and gobject-introspection installed on my system

This seems to be fixed in >=sys-apps/systemd-201.
