/etc/hotplug/net.agent doesn't call the start/stop network scripts any more. For add/register it just has a comment saying "how do we set up a network interface in this distribution?" (or something like that), and remove/unregister has been eliminated completely Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Another problem with hotplug-20040329 is that several of the scripts in /etc/hotplug reference /etc/sysconfig instead of /etc/conf.d.
Created attachment 28468 [details, diff] patch to gentoo-ize the hotplug net.agent script This patch should be applied to the net.agent file from the hotplug-20040329.ebuild. The usb problems also noted are fixed by some of the older patches. I used the patches from the hotplug-20040311.ebuild, exchanging the 004_*net.agent patch for my new patch. The patches are in the file hotplug-20040311-gentoo-patches.tar.bz2 in the distfiles directory. At least some of the old patches are needed, but maybe not all of them.
am working on this, should have a new update fixing this, and other bugs tomorrow
Fixed in 2004_04_01 release
