Looks like an amd64 problem
Comment 2 Jason Huebel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-30 15:32:27 UTC
Ummm... This is wrong:

CFLAGS="-O3 -mcpu=i486 -funroll-loops -pipe"
CHOST="i486-pc-linux-gnu"

Why are you using "-mcpu=i486" and a CHOST that's i486? This doesn't even make sense if your in a 32bit chroot (which sets CHOST to i686).
Comment 3 Hans-Christian Armingeon 2004-05-01 04:11:12 UTC
It is an installation for diskless clients.

I don't want to have any problems with special instructions, when I boot a Pentium, or perhaps an older machine.

The other question is, is it allowed, to do a chroot into a 32bit system from an amd64 system, I mean, I have 64bit linux, and do a chroot into a 32bit linux?
