The current version of ffmpeg-php in Portage does not work with: ffmpeg > 0.10.x php > 5.3 We use ffmpeg 1.1.3 and PHP 5.4.12 and have found that a PHP Developer Antony Dovgal has forked and updated the ffmpeg-php code on Github. On my Gentoo machine I cloned https://github.com/tony2001/ffmpeg-php to ffmpeg-php-0.9, and created an ebuild without any of the 0.6 variant patchsets. This has been working fine for over a week now and we would like to request it is added to Portage to benefit other users. fmt2-encode ~ # php -v PHP 5.4.12--pl0-gentoo (cli) (built: Mar 10 2013 04:35:52) Copyright (c) 1997-2013 The PHP Group Zend Engine v2.4.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2013 Zend Technologies fmt2-encode ~ # ffmpeg -v ffmpeg version 1.1.3 Copyright (c) 2000-2013 the FFmpeg developers built on Mar 11 2013 21:17:07 with gcc 4.7.2 (Gentoo 4.7.2-r1 p1.5, pie-0.5.5) configuration: --prefix=/usr --libdir=/usr/lib64 --shlibdir=/usr/lib64 --mandir=/usr/share/man --enable-shared --cc=x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc --cxx=x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-g++ --ar=x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-ar --optflags='-march=native -O2 -pipe' --extra-cflags='-march=native -O2 -pipe' --extra-cxxflags='-march=native -O2 -pipe' --disable-static --enable-gpl --enable-version3 --enable-postproc --enable-avfilter --disable-stripping --disable-debug --disable-doc --disable-network --disable-vaapi --disable-vdpau --disable-ffplay --enable-openssl --enable-nonfree --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libvo-aacenc --enable-libtheora --enable-libx264 --enable-libxvid --enable-libfaac --enable-nonfree --disable-indev=v4l2 --disable-indev=jack --disable-outdev=sdl --enable-libfreetype --enable-libgsm --enable-libschroedinger --enable-libspeex --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --enable-libopenjpeg --disable-altivec --disable-avx --disable-vis --disable-neon --cpu=host --enable-hardcoded-tables libavutil 52. 13.100 / 52. 13.100 libavcodec 54. 86.100 / 54. 86.100 libavformat 54. 59.106 / 54. 59.106 libavdevice 54. 3.102 / 54. 3.102 libavfilter 3. 32.100 / 3. 32.100 libswscale 2. 1.103 / 2. 1.103 libswresample 0. 17.102 / 0. 17.102 libpostproc 52. 2.100 / 52. 2.100 Missing argument for option 'v'. Live ebuilds is not going to happen. As for ffmpeg-stuff, some patches were added to the existing versions that should sort out compile issues.
