Description Sven 2013-03-11 16:12:37 UTC
Hi,

open gedit or libreoffice writer, and type the following sentence:
Das Ausmaß ist gleichmäßig.

Set the document language to German (Germany) or to de_DE_frami.
Both application will complain about the words "Ausmaß" and "gleichmäßig". They will suggest to replace the letter ß with ss - which is absolutely wrong.

Both hunspell and aspell on the console won't complain about either Ausmaß or gleichmäßig. But applications like gedit and libreoffice do. I have no idea whatsoever, where this issue is coming from.

Here's a list of related packages:
$ equery l "*spell*"
 * Searching for *spell* ...
[IP-] [  ] app-dicts/aspell-de-0.60_pre20030222:0
[IP-] [  ] app-dicts/aspell-en-6.0.0:0
[IP-] [  ] app-dicts/myspell-de-2012.06.17:0
[IP-] [  ] app-dicts/myspell-en-20081002:0
[IP-] [  ] app-text/aspell-0.60.6.1:0

[IP-] [  ] app-text/hunspell-1.3.2-r3:0

Reproducible: Always

At least for openoffice/libreoffice you need "de-DE igerman98". Would be great if this could get fixed.

That's a libre/openoffice specific solution, isn't it? There something seriously wrong at some lower level. Otherwise, applications like gedit would not be affected.

I see the problem I describe on my gentoo machine at work. My gentoo machine at home however, does not show the described behaviour, neither in gedit nor in libreoffice. I'm quite baffled.

This should be fixed with myspell-de-2012.06.17-r1 so please retest.
