Created attachment 340860 [details] Xorg.0.log for the crashed session This is a rare crash (usually every 2-3 weeks or so), so I may be seeing patterns that aren't there. I've only noticed this happening with Konsole windows. The crash seems to be triggered by resizing the window. I've seen it both with double-clicking on the title bar to (un-)maximize and with clicking and dragging an edge or corner to resize. There is basically no delay from the double click or the first actual sie change when dragging to the crash. This could be a bug in Xorg, the AMD driver, kwin, or even Konsole. I'm not realy sure how to best go about tracking thngs down, but I do have the backtrace in the attached log. Not all of the symbols in it seem to have resolved, but I do have split debug turned on for all packages. $ emerge --info xorg-server ati-drivers kwin konsole Portage 2.1.11.52 You may want to report this in upstream's unofficial bug tracker too http://ati.cchtml.com/ as we cannot fix the proprietary drivers.
(In reply to comment #2) > You may want to report this in upstream's unofficial bug tracker too > http://ati.cchtml.com/ as we cannot fix the proprietary drivers. Looks like someone beat me to it: http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=724
It seems I have solved the problem on my system. I reinstalled ati-drivers and followed three steps included in the message it had provided. Something like 'cd /usr/src/linux' 'make menuconfig_old'and then one more thing. This seems to have solved the problem for me. Hope it does the same for you if you are running ati-drivers.

So not kde specific, remove kde from cc.
ati-drivers is dead, and will not be supported in X.
