Description Brad Laue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-26 11:07:03 UTC
A merge of openoffice-ximian and a run as a user shows no sign of a functional dictionary. A run of openoffice, similarly, entering gibberish into the word processor immediately tries to suggest english alternatives upon pressing F7. This behavior is not exhibited with the Ximian version. The thesaurus and other typing aids seem to be similarly missing.

Tested on three separate systems, and brought to my attention by a Gentoo user who will CC himself momentarily hopefully. Please let us know if we can provide any details.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run xoowriter
2. Misspell words
3. Run spellcheck

Actual Results:
Finishes checking without spelling errors being identified

Expected Results:
Should pop up the spellchecker for each misspelled word.

From what I see now it only spell checks words if you use a certain font. For example if you misspell something using Luxi Serif font it will not detect it, but if you write the same thing with Times New Roman font it will pick it up.

Is this still a problem with recent version of oox? Luxi Serif checks fine for me with 1.1.55, but this could also be a font related problem. Anyway: Use the Bitstream fonts instead of Luxi, they look better (and work) ;-)

closing this, can't reproduce, no new info after my last query (which was some months ago)
