A LaTeX document using the glossaries package like so: \usepackage[toc,xindy,sanitize={symbol=false}]{glossaries} \input{glossary} \makeglossaries produces the following error: ! LaTeX Error: File `datatool-base.sty' not found. The version of the datatools package included with dev-texlive/texlive-latexextra-2011 (current stable version) predates the split of the package into datatool-base.sty, datatool-fp.sty and datatool-pgfmath.sty, which occurred with version 2.10 (2012-07-18) [1]. The glossaries package appears to now require a more up-to-date version of datatools [2]. RDEPEND of glossaries-3.04.ebuild specifies ">=dev-texlive/texlive-latexextra-2008" at present. Masking this version and downgrading to dev-tex/glossaries-3.01 is my workaround.
