Description Felix Wiemann 2004-03-25 13:18:04 UTC
According to <http://modeemi.cs.tut.fi/~tuomov/ion/#download>, ion2 is stable and
can be marked as x86. (I am using x11-wm/ion2-20040211-r2, and it works fine.)

Furthermore, lua-5.0.2 can be considered stable, I think. (Works fine here, too.)

By the way, why is the most current version of ion2 in Gentoo 20040211, whereas
the above mentioned web page that the latest version is 20040207?

Hi Felix,

The stablity marked in gentoo has nothing to do with the stability of the package or otherwise. It's to mark the _ebuild_ itself as stable/unstable. Stable ebuilds are safe, unstable ebuilds might break your system. Normally ebuilds get marked stable if they have been used for a month or so without problems, or after recieving "works for me" reports from users -- like you've just done.

Ion2 and lua look pretty stable and I will mark them stable when I get home this evening.

The version number difference is because the ion2-20040211 has a few patches applied to 20040207. Have a look in /usr/portage/x11-wm/ion2/files/*.patch to see what the patch does.

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks. lua-5.0.2 and ion2-20040211-r2 now marked stable on x86.

Regards,

Tom
