Description Ben de Groot (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-02-13 11:07:54 UTC
Since cia.vc died, we have only had a private initiative by Patrick to post commit messages on the #gentoo-commits IRC channel. This is an imperfect solution, because it parses commit emails and is not run on Gentoo infrastructure. There should be a cvs hook which forwards the commit messages to an official irc bot.

this is what KDE did to solve the issue http://martinsandsmark.wordpress.com/2012/11/20/irc-commit-notifications/

I don't think anyone in infra is interested in running this. If you want us to send an RPC somewhere whenever there is a commit, I'm happy to add a hook for it.

Why this mark as invalid. Grrr. Still wanting notify of committery!

what is the specific request? the hook (which would probably be delayed til git) or the hardware? hardware is easy in this case I think, VMs being somewhat cheap.

After the VCS/anonvcs/gitweb dust has settled, I looked into this and have something running. I'm letting it run another night to be sure to have covered all corner cases of especially CVS.

Patrick: Should we schedule a coordinated switchover tomorrow or should I just mute your irker when the new bot has picked up the service?
