The following package was recently masked: net-wireless/bluez-firmware The comment is: # Samuli Suominen <ssuominen@gentoo.org> (10 Feb 2013) # Unfortunately these packages are missing proper licenses # If you can figure out the licensing issues, these can # be unmasked. # prism54 -> no license at all # bluez -> only COPYING with GPL-2, but where is the source then? # and http://www.bluez.org/download/ lists it as deprecated # Removal at 01 Apr 2013 I am confused about the bluez part of this. The source is available vit the kernel.org Git repositories: http://git.kernel.org/?p=bluetooth/bluez.git;a=summary As for bluez-firmware, it is a binary distribution. Debian has this reference: http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/non-free/b/bluez-firmware/bluez-firmware_1.2-2/bluez-firmware.copyright The relevant notice: The BlueZ project has permission from Broadcom Corporation to distribute this firmware in conjunction with the BlueZ tools, available in Debian as bluez-utils, as long as the notice contained in /usr/share/doc/bluez-firmware/BCM-LEGAL.txt accompanies the firmware.
Thanks. It didn't occur to me to check from Debian. I've fixed the LICENSE, moved it to sys-firmware/ and unmasked it Thanks again
