Description Tobias Johansson 2013-02-11 21:25:36 UTC
Digest fails when trying to emerge despite several emerge --sync from different servers. Solved it by copying ebuild to local overlay and creating new manifest.
Comment 1 Alexandre Rostovtsev (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-02-12 04:00:30 UTC
I cannot reproduce the problem.

Please attach the full error message you are getting and your "emerge --info" output.
Comment 2 Tobias Johansson 2013-02-12 06:10:37 UTC
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Comment 4 Alexandre Rostovtsev (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-02-12 06:51:39 UTC
telepathy-logger-0.4.0-r1.ebuild definitely has the sha256 checksum of 7d57e15cc5a6b80f1a35fa9989908909de5342d7e91f9b19e92ac7af2c78a830. And it has had this checksum without changes since October 2012.

So you either found a broken mirror, or you encountered some hardware or network problem that resulted in data corruption when you ran "emerge --sync".

Please check whether running "emerge --sync" again fixes the issue.
Comment 5 Tobias Johansson 2013-02-12 06:55:01 UTC
On my way to work now but I DID try three different (se, dk, nl) servers over the course of two days.

Please give the IP addresses of the mirrors that you tried.
Comment 7 Alexandre Rostovtsev (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-02-12 07:00:46 UTC
or rather, their rsync URLs.
Comment 8 Tobias Johansson 2013-02-12 08:01:54 UTC
First I used this: rsync://ftp.df.lth.se/pub/gentoo/
Then this: http://gentoo.tiscali.nl/
Then this: http://ftp.klid.dk/ftp/gentoo/

I believe I also tried a german one in between.
Comment 9 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-02-12 09:57:51 UTC
don't forget to remove the downloaded file, otherwise digest check will always fail.
Comment 10 Tobias Johansson 2013-02-12 10:00:20 UTC
From /usr/portage/distfile? Yup, did that.
Comment 11 Alexandre Rostovtsev (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-02-13 03:23:40 UTC

> Then this: http://gentoo.tiscali.nl/

Both of these have a valid telepathy-logger-0.4.0-r1.ebuild file (sha256sum of 7d57e15cc5a6b80f1a35fa9989908909de5342d7e91f9b19e92ac7af2c78a830) for their 20130210 and 20310211 portage snapshots (I am assuming you were using emerge-webrsync to fetch snapshots, since "emerge --sync" cannot be used over http.)

So: please try "emerge --sync --verbose", save the complete output from it, and check whether telepathy-logger-0.4.0-r1 was fixed. If it wasn't, attach the "emerge --sync --verbose" output here.
Comment 12 Tobias Johansson 2013-02-13 13:43:16 UTC
I have managed to fix it by syncing properly. Sorry to have wasted your time.
