Description Yuriy Dmitriev 2013-02-07 13:42:42 UTC
Hi folks!!! At this moment is impossible normal download and install our love system to users, who have pure IPV6 intermet connection.

As I see now, possible only sync portage tree via gateway IPV6==>IPV4.

I now try to update my system, and I see, it is impossible to download some distfiles.

This is big problem for users, who have access to IPV4 networks only. Lazy stupid ISP and sysadmins((((

For resolve this I can donate VDS fron my own company for pure IPV6 network for portage tree. Co-called mirror)))

Gentoo community need this?

What I must do for this?

With best whishes - Y.D.

There was a bug a few months ago where mirrors3.xml (for mirrorselect) was ipv4-only, but I thought we fixed that. Can you provide specific feedback on what parts are not working on ipv6 for you?

Hi again:)
Some details about problem.

When I set up pure IPV6 link, I can only do # emerge --sync.
Command complete as expected. The portage tree updated successed.

Next, when I type # emerge -DNu world, portage launch wget for download (I forgot..) some source package for compile && instal.

Src tarball was located on IPV4 only server and I can't download this.
As I make on my network correct dual stack, V4+V6, I assign to net interface IPV4 address and route, and successfully update my system.

As I say above, users who have pure IPV6 network are impossible install or update packages. Only --sync portage tree work now((((
And... I think, I can help community via donate VDS for IPV6-enabled mirror.

With best whishes - YD.

That is not true. In this page http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors2.xml you will find plenty of distfiles ipv6 mirrors, which are the ones that are marked with a *

Regarding your offer for community mirror, unfortunately we are not accepting any new community mirrors for now, but thanks a lot for the offer.
