Description Mike Acord 2002-01-31 08:30:55 UTC
After installing KDE Base (which appeared to have installed correctly), kdm
fails to load. I can start x86 by using startx and xdm, but when I use kdm
or /etc/init.d/xdm (DISPLAYMANAGER set to kdm), kdm does nothing or dies (no
error messages at all).

Try running kdm with parameter -logfile <file> and look there. Also run with
-debug 15 for lots of output. Post results here.

Another thing, check /usr/kde/2/share/config/kdm/kdmrc. Make sure it contains a SessionTypes= setting, the value of which should be a comma-separated list of sessions (e.g. kde-2.2.2,xsession,gnome).

There having been no further feedback/info, I'm closing this since I can't
reproduce or diagnose it as is. If there is any further info, or the problem
recurs and you want to show me that you haven't fogotten about it, please
reopen the bug.
