Description Sergey Popov gentoo-dev 2013-02-07 11:12:03 UTC
net-firewall/ipt_netflow-1.8 fails at configure state with pkgconfig-0.28:

>>> Configuring source in /var/tmp/portage/net-firewall/ipt_netflow-1.8/work/ipt_netflow-1.8 ...
Kernel version: 3.6.11-gentoo-HOSTEL7
Kernel sources: /usr/src/linux
Iptables binary version: 1.4.16.3 (user specified)
pkg-config for version 1.4.16.3 exists: Yes
Searching for iptables-1.4.16.3 sources..
./configure: line 150: locate: command not found

As you can see it tries to find iptables source directory through locate, but it should not to do such thing at all, see output with pkgconfig 0.27.1:

>>> Configuring source in /var/tmp/portage/net-firewall/ipt_netflow-1.8/work/ipt_netflow-1.8 ...
Kernel version: 3.6.11-gentoo-HOSTEL7
Kernel sources: /usr/src/linux
Iptables binary version: 1.4.16.3 (user specified)
pkg-config for version 1.4.16.3 exists: Yes
Iptables include path:   (pkg-config)
Iptables module path: /usr/lib64/xtables (user specified)
Creating Makefile.. done.

  Now run: make all install

I will attach both build.log(with 0.27.1 and with 0.28) soon

build.log with pkgconfig-0.27.1

Build.log when using old stable pkgconfig. Everything builds fine

build.log with pkgconfig-0.28

Build.log with new stable pkgconfig(0.28).

I suppose configure script is someway broken, this should be reported upstream...

Reported upstream, see URL
Comment 5 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-02-07 14:48:25 UTC
We could easily create our own Makefile and dump the included configure/Makefile.in. The tests are useless, overreaching and prone to failure.

I do not mind, although i doubt that it would go upstream. But really, i am tired of that self-made configure stuff mess :-(. So, if you can and want - feel free to commit new revision

Changes in the ebuild:
1) Inherit eutils for epatch
2) CONFIG_CHECK should not be fatal - the whole thing compiles fine without it.
3) Set IPT_SRC to avoid more paranoia.

+  07 Feb 2013; Sergey Popov <pinkbyte@gentoo.org> +ipt_netflow-1.8-r1.ebuild,
+  +files/ipt_netflow-1.8-configure.patch:
+ Revision bump: EAPI 5, fix for pkgconfig 0.28 support via patch for configure
+ script. Thanks to Jeroen Roovers for patch

And one more time - thanks for help with this stuff. I will keep this IN_PROGRESS for a bit - want to know upstream's decision.
Comment 9 Sergey Popov gentoo-dev 2013-02-08 12:32:19 UTC
Fixed in upstream too. Next version will work as-is without our patches
