The dev-tex/aastex package is currently at version 5.0.2. Version 5.2 was released by the American Astronomical Society last month, and includes a number of useful enhancements for publication.

To make 5.2 available for Gentoo, the only thing that needs to be done is to copy the aastex-5.0.2.ebuild to aastex-5.2.ebuild (and rebuild the digest, of course). No actual modification of the ebuild is necessary. I've emailed the listed maintainer (blocke@shivan.org), but he mentioned that he's no longer with the Gentoo project. Any chance this upgrade could get added?
