CUPS allways likes to set "DeviceURI usb:/dev/usblp0". But on Gentoo it is named "DeviceURI usb:/dev/usb/lp0". I suppose this is hardcoded somewhere? The result ist, that CUPS can not print. BTW: In comparison to Debian setting printing on Gentoo is really complicated, because you can not simply choose between PPD-Drivers. For newcomers not possible to install printer with documentation given by Gentoo. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. create usb printer Actual Results: "DeviceURI usb:/dev/usblp0" in /etc/cups/printers.conf Expected Results: "DeviceURI usb:/dev/usb/lp0" in /etc/cups/printers.conf
where does cups like to set DeviceURI to usb:/dev/usblp0 ? if you set ppds in your use flags and remerge foomatic-db(hpijs and gimp-print if you use them), you'll get the debian way.
actually i had the /dev/usblp0 before too .. but with an older version afaik
what's your kernel version, could you get it working?
any news?
i am not using Gentoo any more. So nothing new from me any more.
