Description João 2013-01-28 16:31:38 UTC
I'm using systemd, but I cant emerge net-misc/networkmanager since the "emerge --sync" I did right now. The erro mesg is self-explanatory, since I tell you I can't disable consolkit. In fact disabling it has no effect, using make.conf of package.use. My profile is default/linux/amd64/10.0/desktop/kde.

emerge -avuDN world system

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies /

!!! Problem resolving dependencies for net-misc/networkmanager from @selected
... done!

!!! The ebuild selected to satisfy "net-misc/networkmanager" has unmet requirements.
- net-misc/networkmanager-0.9.6.4-r1::gentoo USE="bluetooth connection-sharing (consolekit) dhcpcd introspection nss resolvconf systemd wext -avahi -dhclient -doc -gnutls -modemmanager -ppp -vala -wimax"

The following REQUIRED_USE flag constraints are unsatisfied:
    at-most-one-of ( consolekit systemd )

The above constraints are a subset of the following complete expression:
    modemmanager? ( ppp ) exactly-one-of ( nss gnutls ) exactly-one-of ( dhclient dhcpcd ) at-most-one-of ( consolekit systemd )

(dependency required by "@selected" [set])
(dependency required by "@world" [argument])

> at-most-one-of ( consolekit systemd )

If you enable systemd and disable consolekit then you have at most one of them; at least assuming there is no magic going on. But it appears there is some magic...

> - net-misc/networkmanager-0.9.6.4-r1::gentoo USE="bluetooth connection-sharing (consolekit) dhcpcd introspection nss resolvconf systemd wext -avahi -dhclient -doc -gnutls -modemmanager -ppp -vala -wimax"

It seems as if it forces you to have consolekit; a recursive grep in /usr/portage/profiles yields that your profile does that in /usr/portage/profiles/targets/desktop/kde/use.force, because disabling it is not supported:

> # Force consolekit and policykit on, other configurations are *maybe* possible but
> # not supported. If you know how to disable this mask, you also know enough to
> # handle the consequences.
> consolekit
> policykit

You can override this by creating a file in /etc/portage/profile/use.force with the line -consolekit.
Comment 3 João 2013-01-30 02:19:33 UTC
-consolekit at /etc/portage/profile/use solved all my problems.
Comment 4 João 2013-02-04 13:56:04 UTC
Problem remains solved, but I needed to do something else:

After putting "-consolekit at /etc/portage/profile/use", I had to enable it at make.conf, and disable it just to networkmanager, using package.use.

So everything get back to normal. Before doing it, kde was unable to mount usb disks.
