When running /usr/bin/thunderbird, I wanted it to check for a running instance of Thunderbird and if once existed use mozilla-xremote-client to communicate and if not pass the url off to a new instance.
Created attachment 27794 [details] a new script that takes care of these issues this is a rather simple script that if it is passed a url, it opens a new composing window, otherwise it opens the standard Mail & Newsgroups window.
Perhaps this should be integrated into the new mozilla-launcher package?
Well, this doesn't quite work with multiple mailto's. I'll attach a different script (based on mozilla-launcher-1.2). It even works when set as network.protocol-handler.app.mailto in Firefox (a CVS build from 2004-04-08)
Created attachment 28959 [details] Mozilla Thunderbird script revisited. Here it is. Works fine here, has some modifications due to thunderbird accepting mailto's only in remote call.
Comment on attachment 28959 [details] Mozilla Thunderbird script revisited. The bugzilla's mime-type autodetection routines failed badly. Fixed.
Fixed in thunderbird-0.6-r1 and mozilla-launcher-1.6
