gkrellm updated recently..ability to effect change on krell fonts has disappeared. where to start narrowing down this problem?
I've the same problem and found out that is due to upgrading to gtk+ 2.4.0 since the font changing problem occurs now also for gkrellm 2.1.27, where fonts used to work perfectly.
Confirm that the bug was seen after an upgrade to GTK+-2.4 . This picture illustrates the problem: http://www.geocities.com/kream77/gkrellm2-font-problem.png While this was what it was like before the upgrade: http://www.geocities.com/kream77/gkrellm2-working-fonts.png Gkrellm2 has a setting for fonts in Configuration / Themes /Fonts where it tells you that you can specify alternate fonts. No matter what font I select in the font selection boxes there, the font still remains the same. Thanks for your time, Martin. Aniruddha Shankar

I have gtk+-2.4 I can't select even Arial, Sans, Times, or any of the basic ones. Well, I can select but they don't display All my Gnome / Gtk apps are working with fonts, except GKrellM On Thu, 2004-04-01 at 09:40, Bill Wilson wrote: On Wed, 31 Mar 2004 15:47:48 -0700 > Dale K Dicks <dale_d@telusplanet.net> wrote: > > > I have tried to set fonts in GKrellM in all of the 2.x series and the > > font dialog box allows me to select a font but the font is not applied > > to the GKrellM Window. > > > > I am wondering if something has changed in Gnome that has not been > > accounted for yet in GKrellM? > > > > This bug occurs with Gnome 2.4.2 and Gnome 2.6.0. > > > > Any idea what could be causing it? > > I don't think there's anything in Gnome that would cause this. I have no problem selecting Arial, Sans, etc here with gtk+-2.2 and those should be selectable whether gkrellm is using Pango or GdkFont. Thanks for letting me know and I'll try to track it down. Has anyone noticed this yet? http://web.wt.net/~billw/gkrellm/Bugs.html > In the meantime, if you wish to try a test tarball to get your fonts fixed > right now, you can get: http://web.wt.net/~billw/test/gkrellm-2.2.0-test1.tar.bz2 I am currently compiling it and will attach the ebuild if it works.
yes, I emailed Bill Wilson Bill Wilson (the gkrellm dev) - per my mail messge that I pasted into this bug, which is why he foudn out it was broken and fixed it.
Created attachment 29384 [details] gkrellm-2.2.0_pre1.ebuild Works on my machine, under Gnome 2.6. Have not noticed any regressions. Uses ${P/_pre/-test} semantic trickery.
Working on my machine too. gnome-2.4.2 glib-2.4.0 pango-1.4.0 p.s.: new gkrellm look r0x! :)
works well for me.
Well, the fonts are terrible (too large), but I can change their sizes and choose different fonts. Gnome 2.6.x
Created attachment 31482 [details] Ebuild for gkrellm 2.2.0 GKrellM 2.2.0 was just released with the new font rendering. It also includes the slit patch (see http://web.wt.net/~billw/gkrellm/Changelog). This is based on Ed's ebuild in comment 8. Bug 49435 also contains an ebuild for 2.2.0-test1, perhaps it can be merged with this bug.
can this be closed, as 2.2 serie seems to fix this, and 2.2.5 is the latest stable version?
Closing a stale bug.
