I'm having difficulties understanding that attachment. What's going on there with /mnt/harmony???
Comment 2 Anthony Basile gentoo-dev 2013-01-21 14:26:29 UTC
Can you give us steps to reproduce. I must have installed/reinstalled eudev dozens of times and never seen this.

The eudev ebuild (unlike the udev ebuild) tries to support EPREFIX. it looks like EPREFIX="/mnt/harmony" on this system?

I'm not sure why this path would be doubled, but it is certainly possible that we are passing EROOT to ./configure in too many places.

To be safe, could you please attach your emerge --info output?
Comment 4 James Le Cuirot gentoo-dev 2013-01-21 14:36:53 UTC
/mnt/harmony is my value of ${ROOT}. I initially encountered this with my (soon to be released) cross-compile scripts but I also tried a much simpler example to make sure. This should reproduce it on any system, where /mnt/foo is empty.

USE="-*" ROOT=/mnt/foo emerge eudev

Here's my emerge --info but it probably isn't relevant.

Fix configure paths

With this patch I get same results as with unset ROOT. I'm not 100% sure about the --docdir and --with-html-dir as I did not install the docs.

That works. Docs seem okay too. I just noticed that this issue also affects where some lvm2 files are installed but they end up in the right place after applying this fix and remerging.

Good to know about the lvm2 file paths. Patch applied to beta2 and -9999 ebuilds in the tree. Please re-emerge.
