I often use eix --only-names to feed emerge a list of packages I want. It would be nice to have a short option for this.

You can use https://developer.berlios.de/feature/?group_id=11597 for things like this: No need to take time of the gentoo bug wranglers.

eix is running out of letters for the short-hand options (already -! -| -* are less than optimal choices since they must be quoted).

At least in dash, bash, and zsh (even if interactive comments are enabled) it works unquoted...
