I have a customized copy of getty@.service in /etc/systemd/system to have it display /etc/issue.logo and not clear the VT buffer. To get systemd to use this for tty1, I have replaced the symlink /etc/systemd/system/getty.target.wants/getty@tty1.service with a link pointing at my customized getty@.service file. This works great, until I reinstall or upgrade systemd, which replaces it with a link to /usr/lib/systemd/system/getty@.service. Can we fix systemd so that it does not install things in /etc/systemd/system, and puts them in /usr/lib/systemd instead?
I wouldn't mind but you have to take that to upstream. Or shall I? But I guess they... guess what... don't care :P.
Ping. Did this make anywhere near upstream?
Nope, fell off my "list of important things" pretty quickly.
