Description Dan 2013-01-16 16:04:26 UTC
Recently emerged gorg on an empty chroot. It installs fine, and when I try to run it it pretends to start fine, but running gorg -I in the htdocs folder results in errors about no dbi being available. After manually installing dev-ruby/dbi it is now complaining about not finding mysql. If these both really are required, gorg should probably depend on them.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Fresh system
2. emerge www-servers/gorg
3. run gorg -I in an xml folder
Comment 1 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-01-16 16:22:59 UTC
Setting USE=mysql for this package should give you dev-ruby/dbi . Actually those RDEPENDs should not be in there, since the build system for the package doesn't actually use RDEPEND. There is a bug here, but you weren't seeing it.
Comment 2 Dan 2013-01-16 17:17:27 UTC
But, I didn't have use=mysql set and the program still fails to run correctly. If it requires mysql, I shouldn't have an option, true?

Emerge gorg on a clean system (No dbi installed).

hydrogen@Positve ~/gentoo-doc/xml $ gorg -I
/usr/lib64/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:36:in `gem_original_require': no such file to load -- dbi (LoadError)
	from /usr/lib64/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:36:in `require'
	from /usr/lib64/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/gorg/search.rb:20
	from /usr/lib64/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:36:in `gem_original_require'
	from /usr/lib64/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:36:in `require'
	from /usr/bin/gorg:71

After installing dbi (hoping it would fix everything).

hydrogen@Positve ~/gentoo-doc/xml $ gorg -I

Comment 4 Hans de Graaff gentoo-dev Security 2013-01-16 18:11:42 UTC
I don't see it complaining about not finding mysql anywhere.

dbi is only needed when you use -I so I don't want to make it a hard dependency. I guess we could add a separate USE flag for it, but even then you'd need to install additional database drivers yourself.

Please note that -I will be gone in the next version since we don't use it on gentoo.org and it depends on DBI, which does not work with ruby19.

Okay. It turns out my problem was for another reason anyways, and I've chased down the issue. Probably not worth worrying over. Sorry for the noise!
