Description Vladimir Romanov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-01-11 07:46:35 UTC
In hb-install-system.xml, lines 89-133, there are two subsections about mounting necessary file systems, DISTINCT for IA64 and others.

Only differences are:
1) title - "mounting necessary file systems" and "mounting /proc, /sys and /dev filesystems" - well... you can simply leave one of there, whatever you like more.
2) caption to "pre" tag - "mounting /proc and /dev" and "mounting /proc, /sys and /dev"... well, i don't know, why /sys is absent in first case, because it's mounted too.
3) Paragraph about "In a few moments, we will change the Linux root towards the new location. To..." - it present only in NOT IA64. Why we can't insert it in IA64 too? Isn't it true for IA64, that we will change the Linux root?

With these modifications, these two subsections became absolutely equal, so, you can remove IA64 checking, and put one text for all architectures.

Reproducible: Always

Hi. I noticed this today too. It dates back to (originally) bug 166069, where the added section was not really needed, and then really became redundant with bug 420159. It looks like it could definitely be merged into one section with no issues.

Thanks, it indeed looks like the section duplication is now redundant. I've changed it to just use the same section for all architectures.
