Description Alexandre Sanches 2004-03-19 03:37:44 UTC
When I click on "Aide --> Tutoriel et guide des concepts" (excuse my french), gnucash simply crashes.
When I launch it from command line, I have the following messages :
(...)
gtkhtml-ERROR **: gconf error: Failed to contact configuration server (a likely cause of this is that you have an existing configuration server (gconfd) running, but it isn't reachable from here - if you're logged in from two machines at once, you may need to enable TCP networking for ORBit)

aborting...
Abandon (core dumped)

I only noted here the messages from the moment when I click on "tuto..."

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

Confirmed with the gnucash-1.8.8:

Clicking "Open the new user tutorial" option in the 1st dialog window causes the error noted above.

Is this a missing dependancy required to show the help file? Or is ORBit TCP networking the clue?
Comment 2 Stuart Shelton 2004-04-20 13:52:40 UTC
Okay - problem solved. Merging gconf-1.0.9 fixed it.

This is definitely a portage problem: Because I had gconf-2* [slot 2] installed, updates to gconf-1* [slot 1] were never shown.
Comment 3 Mike Gardiner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-25 01:33:59 UTC
Not true, because of the slots you will be notified of new versions/updates for each slot.

If this is still reproduceable/a problem - please re-open.
