I am trying to play a midi file to AWE32 PnP. I have 2.6.2 kernel, but I am unable to load any instruments into the AWE32 PnP. The soundcard has 2MB on-board RAM that is known to work. The .mid file is also known to work, as timidity++ plays it without problems. I will file a separate bug on the awesfx 0.4.4 package. Restarting alsasound does the following: * WARNING: you are stopping a boot service. * Unloading ALSA... * Storing ALSA Mixer Levels * Unloading modules [ ok ] * Loading ALSA drivers... * Using ALSA OSS emulation * Loading: snd-sbawe * Loading: snd-seq FATAL: Module snd_seq not found. * Loading: snd-emu8000-synth * Loading: snd-seq-midi * Running card-dependent scripts * Restoring Mixer Levels /etc/modules.d/alsa is writen according to all guidelines, and the Awe32PnP is the only card in this machine. * media-sound/alsa-tools Latest version installed: 0.9.8 * media-sound/alsa-utils Latest version installed: 0.9.8 media-libs/alsa-lib Latest version installed: 0.9.8 * media-libs/alsa-oss Latest version installed: 0.9.8 kmid gets stuck for about 10 seconds after stop, forward, rewind or "Midi setup..." I haven't seen snd_seq mentioned anywhere in any help files or documentation. Why is it there? And why does sfxload say that /dev/sequencer doesn't exist? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. run kmidi, load a .mid file 2. play the file, then ffwd, rewind, stop or use mouse to move the playing position indicator 3. Actual Results: kmidi got stuck for 10 seconds, didn't update it's window, and I was unable to do anything with it. I'm not even sure about the application. I one midi app was dropped in favor of another from 3.1 to 3.2. Do you mean KMid? Is this stil an issue?
