Bug is best described by the link, but basically the ha_resolve_by_name function attempts to dereference a NULL pointer due to plugins not being loaded yet at the time of it being called. There is a patch at http://lists.askmonty.org/pipermail/commits/2011-June/001911.html. Should be noted that the discussion is surrounding MariaDB, however, this is based on mysql and there is references indicating that MySQL suffers the same problem.
