Description Joel Parker 2004-03-15 15:13:26 UTC
When I try to emerge unreal-tournament-goty using my 2-CD set, it works fine until I need to swap CDs. I take out the first cd, insert and mount the second, but emerge doesn't detect it.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Insert and mount first cd
2. Run `emerge unreal-tournament-goty`
3. When message appears about second CD, eject first and insert and mount second

Actual Results:
# emerge -v unreal-tournament-goty
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) games-fps/unreal-tournament-goty-451 to /
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) ut-install-436-GOTY.run
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) UTPGPatch451.tar.bz2
 * This package will need access to 2 cds.

 * If you do not have the CDs, but have the data files
 * mounted somewhere on your filesystem, just export
 * the following variables so they point to the right place:
 *  CD_ROOT_1 CD_ROOT_2
 * Or, if you have all the files in the same place, or
 * you only have one cdrom, you can export CD_ROOT
 * and that place will be used as the same data source
 * for all the CDs.

 * Found CD #1 root at /mnt/cdrom
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking ut-install-436-GOTY.run to
/var/tmp/portage/unreal-tournament-goty-451/work
>>> Unpacking UTPGPatch451.tar.bz2 to
/var/tmp/portage/unreal-tournament-goty-451/work/UTPG
>>> Source unpacked.

>>> Install unreal-tournament-goty-451 into
/var/tmp/portage/unreal-tournament-goty-451/image/ category games-fps
 * Uncompressing CD1 Maps ... this may take some time

 * Please insert cd #2 for unreal-tournament-goty now !
 * Press return to scan for the cd again
 * or hit CTRL+C to abort the emerge.

[ejected CD1 from /mnt/cdrom, inserted and mounted CD2 to /mnt/cdrom here]

 * Please insert cd #2 for unreal-tournament-goty now !
 * Press return to scan for the cd again
 * or hit CTRL+C to abort the emerge.

 * Please insert cd #2 for unreal-tournament-goty now !
 * Press return to scan for the cd again
 * or hit CTRL+C to abort the emerge.

 * Please insert cd #2 for unreal-tournament-goty now !
 * Press return to scan for the cd again
 * or hit CTRL+C to abort the emerge.

Expected Results:
After mounting 2nd CD and pressing Enter, the ebuild should have picked it up
and started copying files.

Comment 1 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2004-08-22 23:25:50 UTC
the cdrom check would have looked for '/mnt/cdrom/Help/chaosut' on your 2nd cd ... does that exist ?
Comment 2 Joel Parker 2004-08-23 17:59:51 UTC
Well, now that I try it again, I can't even get it to pause to swap the CDs. It reads from the first one, then starts reading from what it thinks is the second one, without pausing to let me switch.

How do I do it?
Comment 3 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-24 05:56:19 UTC
SpanKY: I'm getting the same thing with another bug, bug #51995.
Comment 4 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-07 17:15:06 UTC
Nevermind... other bug was invalid
Comment 5 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2004-12-26 19:21:11 UTC
re-open and tell us if '/mnt/cdrom/Help/chaosut' exists on your 2nd cd
Comment 6 Joel Parker 2005-01-27 19:00:25 UTC
No, it doesn't.
Comment 7 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2005-01-28 21:07:27 UTC

we cant guess

hrm, what 'release' is your GOTY ?

i have two copies of UT GOTY, and both have chaos stuff under Help ...
Comment 10 Joel Parker 2005-01-30 00:03:04 UTC
I have no idea. This is the 'Extras' CD you're talking about, right? I bought a boxed US GOTY copy, looked pretty standard to me.
Comment 11 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2005-01-30 10:46:05 UTC
hrm, ok ...

so do you not have ChaosUT support when you install GOTY in windows ? one of the points of the GOTY cd was that it came with a bunch of extra things like Chaos UT :)
Comment 12 Joel Parker 2005-01-30 11:05:08 UTC
I guess not. I've never even heard of ChaosUT.

Here's a thought: did the original UT box come with a second CD? If it did, maybe I don't have GOTY after all. I have two CDs (Game and Extras), but neither say GOTY on them.

If not, maybe they added it later to GOTY or something.
Comment 13 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2005-01-30 11:13:52 UTC
ah, sounds like you dont have the GOTY edition :)

the GOTY edition definitely says 'game of the year' in a big font on the actual cd
