That's not a real fix - it just moves the problem from emerge's output to repoman's output.

This is to be common, harfbuzz uses old test approach which is single job, while eapi5 puts jobserver into the game.

Proper fix is to fix the Makefiles to use new test target to allow paralel build, but given that upstream so far rejected all my buildsystem patches I won't be making it.
