If you install mc-4.6.0-r3 with samba option turned on it installes ok .. but there is a minor issue . Now if you try start mc it does not find libsmbclient.so.0 , i linked /usr/lib/libsmbclient.so -> libsmbclient.so.0 and it worked ok . So thats the bug ... i hope i could help :)
ok im new to bugzilla :( i just lost my comment If i installed emerge mc with export USE="samba" it intsalled all Ok. But after i tried to run mc , it gave error that cant find libsmbclinet.so.0 . After i linked /usr/lib/libsmbclient.so libsmbclient.so.0 it work Ok . I hope I could help .
Yeah, that's still outstanding... additionally revdep-rebuild will try to recreate the so by re-emerging mc + samba patches in an infinite loop :)
samba does install this link automatically here, so maybe you just had to remerge samba.
It doesn't create that symlink for me, I even remerged samba. I had to manually create that link. Using samba-3.0.4-r1
