Apache dies on startup when executing /etc/init.d/apache start.

Both of these are installed:
net-www/apache-1.3.26-r2
dev-libs/mm-1.1.3-r1
      

saraphane init.d # apache start
Ouch! ap_mm_create(1048576, "/var/cache/apache-mm/mm.25023") failed
Error: MM: mm:core: failed to open semaphore file (No such file or directory):
OS: No such file or directory

System is a ppc, running latest updates.

I have the same versions installed, but cannot reproduce this bug. =:(

looks like this only happens on initial startup?  I just started apache on
saraphane with a minor alert (about hostname), but started successfully.

Can you verify that this is fixed with newer versions?  (I suspect this was a
portage 2.0.8 problem).  You told me it is not working on this box and I just
want to verify.
