From the ebuild: RESTRICT="mirror" Mirror restriction should not be on for the package, because the same firmware files are distributed in linux-firmware, which is a very good indication for lack of redistribution restrictions (kernel.org). From the license (Conexant-firmware): Conexant grants permission to use and redistribute these firmware files for use with Conexant devices, but not as a part of the Linux kernel or in any other form which would require these files themselves to be covered by the terms of the GNU General Public License.

Fixed. However, I recommend you try the linux-firmware package. I'll be removing the package and pushing people that way. Let me know if you try linux-firmware and it doesn't work out.
